Assallamu-alaikum. I got married in 1989, and it was the norm then that when a woman gets married she changes her father's name to her husband's name, the implication of that was not known to us. But when I grew up I read one hadith of the Prophet (SAW) that he was commanded by Allah (SWA) to make Zaid (his adopted son) to revert to his father's name. I made a lot more consultations that proved that a woman should maintain her surname even after marriage.

Assalam Alakum, I have been advised that zakah is only payable on money that has been with you for 1 year (i.e. not accumulated during the year). Please advise is that correct. Thank you.

Allah Almighty has entrusted parents with their children. Parents bear the responsibility to raise up their children in the Islamic way. If they do that they will be blessed in this life and in the Hereafter, and if they don't, they will get bad result during their life and in the Hereafter.
That is why Islam has ordered parents to take care of their children and to bring them up according to the Islamic manners.

Men and women, fathers and mothers share the responsibility to raise up, educate, and build the new generation in the correct method and the right way.

Salaam. Should a pregnant woman due to a case of rape abort her fetus whether before 120 or after? Please clarify for us this ruling and is it true?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Seeking knowledge is a duty of every Muslim.” If women had been excluded from this exhortation, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would have certainly said so.
