Ask for the interpretation of dreams

Question:

Asalamualaykum. Is it good to ask for the interpretation of dreams especially if the is a reoccuring one. I would like the answer to be sent to my email too. JAZAKALLAHUL KHAIRAN

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

A person may seek to have his dreams interpreted if he or she feels that they carry a meaning. It has been reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, would ask his Companions after the Fajr prayer, “which one of you had a dream last night?” and then he would interpret it for them. We are also told how to react regarding our dreams.

1. If it is a bad dream, be dismissive about it and do not share it with others.

2. If it is a good dream, then share it with loved ones.

3. Dreams are not a source of legislation; no practical decision is to be made based on dreams.

Having said that, if you do seek to have your dream interpreted, then approach someone who is skilled, knowledgeable and pious.
