Egg donation in Islam

sexQuestion:
Is egg donation allowed in Islam?

Answer:

Egg donation is not allowed in Islam; this is because of the fact that it dilutes and mixes up blood lineages. In other words, it mixes the egg and sperm of two parties who are not married, and thus introduces a third party into the equation; hence it is not at all in any different from adultery. There is a consensus among scholars on this issue. Hence, no Muslim should ever even entertain such an idea. If the conception is not possible, except through this method, it is best for the parties to accept the will of Allah;

Allah says,

Unto Allah belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He will. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He will, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He will; Or He mingles them, males and females, and He makes barren whom He will. Lo! He is Knower, Powerful. (Qur’an: 42: 49-50).

In conclusion, let me state: In vitro fertilization is permissible only if the egg and sperm are extracted from the couple who are married to each other, and as long as a third party is not brought into the equation either as a donor or a carrier (otherwise known as a surrogate mother). May Allah make us all self-sufficient with things He has allowed for us so that we are not inclined to those that He has forbidden for us-aameen.
