Beberapa minggu terakhir ini orang banyak membicarakan tentang film 2012 yang mengundang kontroversi. Cerita dalam film tersebut yang mendasarkan pada ramalan Suku Maya bahwa akhir dunia akan terjadi pada tahun 2012 sedikit banyak telah mengusik keingintahuan di masyarakat.

Akhir dunia atau yang disebut juga dengan hari kiamat adalah perkara yang ghaib yang hanya Allah saja yang mengetahui kapan terjadinya, dan tidak seorang pun, baik dari kalangan jin atau manusia yang mengetahuinya.

Offering udhiyah (sacrifice) during `Eid Al-Adha is regarded as wajib or mandatory according to Imam Abu Hanifah and as sunnah mu'akkadah or confirmed Sunnah according to other jurists.

All those people who have the nisab (payable amount) of zakah should offer a sacrifice. The time for offering a sacrifice begins after the `Eid Al-Adha prayer.

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah have been singled out especially for great merits and excellences like no other days in the Islamic calendar. Allah in His infinite wisdom and mercy has chosen to dispense infinite spiritual blessing and rewards. Thanks to the high status these days enjoy, Allah has made them worthy of making an oath by them, when He says (By the Daybreak, by the Ten Nights) (Al-Fajr 89:1–2).

According to some Qur’an commentators or mufassirun, the ten nights mentioned here are none other than the first ten nights of Dhul-Hijjah; others, however, hold the view that these nights specifically refer to the last ten nights of Ramadan.

My Husband is a doctor. There are a lot of pharmaceutical companies that offer certain gifts in the form of household appliances, sponsor air tickets or lavish dinner parties and sometimes cheques. In return, they would want the doctor to prescribe their brand of medicines to their patients. I would like to know if it is permissible in Islam to accept such gifts.

Question:

Is taking a shower the same thing as making wudhu? I have been told that taking a shower only does not substitute for wudhu in the Hanafi School of Jurisprudence. Therefore, a person must make wudhu separately and if he does not do so, his salah is not valid. Is this true?
